International audienceIn the 1960s and 1970s, early work on spatial prepositions tried to capture their semantic content by means of geometrical tools and concepts. This practice went on during the following decades -and to this day-, the theoretical framework of "conceptual semantics" developed by Jackendoff being the main representative: differences between spatial prepositions are modelled on the basis of distinct "regions" that these markers introduce when applied to their complement, and in which the target -located entity- is supposed to be situated.
